Celebrating 10 years of our education programme

This year we celebrate the 10th anniversary of our industry-leading education programme in the UK.

The last school year saw almost £50,000 deployed in education outreach across UK projects developed by our team and our current UK projects.

Our programme, run in partnership with Earth Energy Education, has always had experiential learning at its heart. We work with the schools local to our solar farms, often in regions of the UK which miss out on national science initiatives.

A key aim is to expose our children to future career opportunities in this growing sector. Our programme brings children closer to nature through exploring ecological enhancements and exposes them to well-informed science on the energy mix and climate change. It’s a perfect platform to share this message and inspire the next generation.

We understand how much individuals have inspired us along our education and career journeys and are keen to inspire young people in turn. All our employees are encouraged to volunteer and support our education initiative, with almost half our UK team joining a school group for the day this year. One new employee said: ‘My big takeaway was how engaged and democratic 9-year-olds could be when talking about the challenges surrounding developing solar projects, the importance of biodiversity, and our country's future.’

Our online careers workshops for older students have illuminated the disparity in education provision on sustainability issues in the UK.

We look forward to developing our education programme further during the next academic year, reaching more young people, and sharing our experience across the industry.
