EDEN EDUCATION

The team behind Eden Renewables is proud to have developed an industry-leading educational programme linked to our renewable energy projects. As of 2024, over 10,000 children have benefited from classroom sessions and site visits to solar and wind farms developed by our team.

Each project benefits from a ring-fenced allocation of a few thousand pounds per year to fund the programme for the operational lifetime of the solar or wind farm. These funds are additional to the community benefit fund.

Our aim is to give children the chance to learn beyond the school grounds and gain useful and relevant experience and knowledge in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) subjects. They learn about the benefits of renewables, carbon consumption, the impact of climate change, ecology, biodiversity, and environmental stewardship. Our lesson plans are all linked to the National Curriculum.

We also host live STEM webinars that bring industry professionals directly into the classroom. Our webinars aim to break down misconceptions about Green STEM careers and the people who work in the industry. Previous sessions have covered topics such as Women in STEM and Green STEM Careers.

Local primary school pupils met scientists from Lancaster University at Park Farm solar farm developed by the Eden team in Leicestershire to learn about the broader benefits of well-managed solar farms.

It has been a fantastic opportunity for the children to discuss possible future renewable energy solutions and to be able to relate these to their own schools and local community.

The industry professionals were all very interesting and it was great to have the opportunity to talk and ask questions. It was good to see a diverse range of jobs, men and women and a lovely range of accents too! Just showing anyone can get into the sector.

SITE VISITS

Year EYFS - Year 13
Offered during the school year

We work with your school to carry out field trips to our solar and wind farms using funds allocated from the project. Organised by our qualified teachers, each visit is tailored to supplement the current curriculum.

We provide transport; a health and safety briefing; a risk assessment; on-site activities and resources; and a workshop before and/or after the field trip. These trips can be used to cover aspects of science, geography, English, maths and other subjects.

WORKSHOPS & VIRTUAL LEARNING

Year EYFS - Year 13
Offered during the school year

When field trips aren’t possible, we offer workshops in schools with one of our specialist teachers. Depending on the lesson plan, workshops can also supplement a field trip.

We work with your school to design a workshop and tailor lesson plans to ensure topics and activities are relevant to the class.

When children can’t be at school, we offer virtual learning resources to engage them.
